Accessories chain Claire’s is reported to be considering closing some of its UK stores.

The Press Association said the High Street chain was working with restructuring firm Alix Partners on “a number of options”.

The news comes just hours after Claire’s US parent company emerged from chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

A spokeswoman for Claire’s said closing under performing stores was “part of normal business practice”.

The chain has more than 350 stores in the UK, according to its most recent accounts.
